Train Varieties
ARU RESSHA
In 1906, the Kyushu Railway ordered luxurious passenger cars, also known as the “Aru Ressha,” from the J.G. Brill Company in the US, but there were never any opportunities for them to be of service. This “Train of Dreams,” providing the finest cuisine, time, and hospitality, will now run on the Kyudai Main Line.
Car No. 1
Romantic colors, classic shapes, and materials made of bright and soft maple. The interior is designed in two-seat and four-seat configurations, complete with a coffered ceiling also used in the Seven Stars in Kyushu. The warm embrace of wood can be felt within the car.
Car No. 2
Compartments (private rooms for two) surrounded by reserved coloring and walnut muntins are available. The muntin craftsmanship used is the same as that in Seven Stars in Kyushu.
First-class cuisine offered by a world-class chef
The dining experience aboard the ARU RESSHA is directed by Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa. You can enjoy a fish dish, a meat dish, sweets, and mini-sweets.

Chef Narisawa
The meals on the Aru Ressha train are overseen by Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa, who has been ranked among the world's best restaurants for over 10 consecutive years. Chef Narisawa is the owner-chef of the restaurant NARISAWA in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, and is renowned both in Japan and internationally for his cuisine, which is centered on the theme of the natural environment.
Cuisine
The course meals are exclusive to Aru Ressha and feature an original menu. Chef Narisawa personally visits producers across Kyushu, selecting only the highest-quality ingredients through careful sensory evaluation. Additionally, the tableware has been specially crafted by Kyushu artisans exclusively for this train.
Hospitality
The train's attendants accompany passengers on their journey, offering warm and comforting hospitality that creates an extraordinary experience.
On-Board Sales
Kinrinko Lake
Hot spring and a crystal water stream up from the bottom of this lake. It is said that the lake water completely changes twice a day. The shrine gate in the lake was transferred from the Bussanji Temple under the Shinbutsu Hanzen (Shinto and Buddhist Separation) Order during the Meiji period.
Yufuin Hot springs
Refresh yourself in the simple alkaline mineral water tub that commands a panoramic view of Yufudake Mountain!
Tanushimaru Station
A unique station where the entire station building is shaped like a Kappa. The KAPATERIA cafe in the station offers hospitality through the sale of local products.
