A new tourist train begins operation in October 15th, 2020 ～Introduction of the concept～
In October 15th, 2020, JR Kyushu will debut new tourist train for the first time in approximately three and a half years.
The "36+3” tours all of the prefectures of Kyushu, the 36th largest island in the world, and welcomes customers to par- take in a journey that is packed with 35 episodes to enjoy Kyushu on five routes.
We created this experience with the hope that customers will enjoy all of the train’s routes and tell us about their “36th episode".
Regarding sales method, it is currently being adjusted. We will announce as soon as we decide.
This time, we inform about only concept or operating route of 36+3 train.

Let's across Kyushu by train! Hohi Main Line will be completely resumed!
Regarding the section between Higo-Ozu and Aso station, which has been suspended due to the effects of Kumamoto earthquake occurred on April 14th, 2016, we would like to inform you that it will be resumed from August 8th, 2020.
Travel to Aso get more comfortable and smoothly by train! As next trip, please visit to Aso in Kyushu.

For passengers who bring large baggage onto Tokaido-Sanyo-Kyushu Shinkansen
In order to provide passengers using the Shinkansen with a safer, more comfortable traveling experience,
from May 20th, 2020 passengers traveling with oversized baggage (total dimensions between 160cm and 250cm) will berequired to purchase a seat with oversized baggage area ticket, which includes use of the oversized baggage area.
*Passengers traveling with oversized baggage without a reservation will be charged a baggage fee (1,000 yen including tax)

From July 1, 2019, we will add trains offering seat reservation on JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking.
Trains to be added are Kyushu Shinkansen (between Hakata - Kagoshima-Chuo), Kamome (between Hakata - Nagasaki) and Midori (between Hakata - Sasebo), both of which are popular trains.
*Seat reservation on JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking is available from 10 am (J.S.T) of the day one month prior to the date of the train you want to ride.

Currently, JR Kyushu provides the information of train operating from “Notice about the suspension of train operation” at JR Kyushu web site in cases that there are possibilities to occur any service suspension or delay. In this time, added to distributing information at web site, train operating information in all area of Kyushu will be started to distribute in English.

On August 1st, we will open a new website "JR Kyushu Rail Pass Online Booking" and start selling the JR Kyushu Rail Pass and Yufuin no Mori, Yufu, and Ibusuki no Tamatebako advance reservation seat service (*).
Take advantage of the new service to enjoy a more comfortable Kyushu rail trip!
* The advance reservation seat service is for customers who have purchased a JR Kyushu Rail Pass or a voucher of the pass through "JR Kyushu Rail Pass Online Booking" or specific travel agencies
Partial Change of Eligibility for use of JR Kyushu Rail Pass
JR Kyushu Rail Pass has been sold to a Japanese national living outside of Japan who meets the certain conditions, however, the sales of the Exchange Order will be ended on March 31, 2017. (The Exchange Order is not sold in Japan.)
Eligibility of use of the Exchange Order sold on and after April 1, 2017 will exclusively be for foreign tourists visiting Japan from abroad for sightseeing, under the entry status of "temporary visitor." (*Only for those who have the foreign passport.)
New rules for JR Kyushu Rail Pass
From April 1st 2016, the usage rules of the pass will change as below.
(1)A limitation on the number of Reserve Seat Tickets one can obtain:
3-Day Pass:10 times maximum, 5-Day Pass:16 times maximum
(2)A new area will be added to the Northern Kyushu Area Pass.
*The inclusion of our sightseeing train “A-TRAIN” in the pass.
