Japanese hospitality at Tamana Station(Thursday route)
You can purchase specialty products from the northern region of Kumamoto Prefecture, mainly from the Tamana area.
Shabondama soap-making experience (children-only)
How about creating soap in any shape that you like using soap powder that has been carefully made through a week-long process?
This experience is available on all routes at no additional cost, and you can do it from your seat.
Japanese hospitality at Shigeoka Station(Saturday route)
You can purchase specialty products from the people of Saiki City.
On-board event: “An Introduction to Kompeito”(Sunday route)
On the train’s Sunday route, you can sample colorful kompeito made from specialty foods from Oita, Kitakyushu, and Fukuoka!! This allows you to enjoy the tastes as well as the sights of these regions.
This event is available at no additional cost and occurs a total of two times at (1) around 13:50 and (2) around 15:15.
Japanese hospitality at Kami Arita Station(Monday route)
Take commemorative photos at this charmingly elegant station, and enjoy your time at the café attached to it.
Destinations
The Hisatsu-Orange Railway near Satsuma-Taki Station (Thursday route)
At Tamana Station, you can purchase specialty products from the northern region of Kumamoto Prefecture, mainly from the Tamana area. From Yatsushiro Station, the train runs on the Hisatsu-Orange Railway, and at Ushinohama Station, one of the stops along this route, specialties from the Akune region are featured. Feel free to enjoy these specialties along with spectacular views of the East China Sea.
Sakurajima as seen from Sengan-en Garden (Friday route)
After having lunch with views of Kinko Bay and Sakurajima, one of the stops along the train’s route is Osumi-Okawara Station, a quiet station in the woods. There, you’ll find Japanese-style hospitality from the local residents and a soon-to-be café under a large ginkgo tree.
The Yoroi River (Saturday route)
After leaving Miyazaki City, you will enjoy views of the Hyuga-nada Sea on your way to Nobeoka. And at Nobeoka Station, local specialties are available for purchase. From Nobeoka, you can experience the atmosphere of a hikyo station (secluded train stations that are popular among railway enthusiasts) at Sotaro Station, and at Shigeoka Station, you can purchase top-quality regional products from Saiki City locals.
Moji Port (Sunday route)
After departing from Beppu, Oita, you will head to Kitsuki while taking in views of Beppu Bay. Along the way, you can have a meal while enjoying the bountiful nature found in Oita’s seas, mountains, and rivers. At Moji Port, passengers are given time to explore the area at their leisure, so feel free to take commemorative photos featuring the station building in the background, go shopping, and enjoy other activities around the port.
Hizen Hamashuku (Monday route)
After leaving Hakata Station, you will enjoy lunch as the train travels to its next destination. One of the stops along the train’s route is Hizen-Hama Station, a historic town filled with sake breweries. From Hizen-Hama Station, the train will then head to Sasebo via Kohoku Station. And as you head towards Sasebo, you can enjoy views of the charmingly rustic chimneys that rise out of the potteries along the way.

For passengers using the JR Kyushu Rail Pass
For passengers using the JR Kyushu Rail Pass
・All 36+3 seats are reserved seats. Reservations must be made in advance.
・If you use a JR Kyushu Rail Pass to ride the 36+3, the pass will only be valid for the basic fare. You will need to pay for the limited express and the green car charges separately.
・Reservations can be made in advance through the JR KYUSHU RAIL PASS Online Booking service or at a station ticket office after exchanging an exchange order for a rail pass.
・The only seats available using the JR Kyushu Rail Pass are those in Cars 5 and 6. The private compartments in Cars 1–3 are only for travel products.

・A “lunch plan” is a travel product that consists of both a seat and a meal that you can enjoy on the train. You need to pay for the trip separately.
・Reservations can be made through the KLOOK sales website.
・Reservations for private compartment seats in Cars 1 and 2 can be made for three or more people, Reservations for standard seats in Cars 5 and 6 can be made for two or more people.
