Kumamoto
The majestic nature of Kumamoto is very popular with foreign visitors. Mount Aso is one of the largest active volcanos in the world and also has one of the largest calderas in the world (25km north-south and 18km east-west, circumference of 128km). Visitors will certainly enjoy the massive view.
When you are in Kumamoto, do not forget to visit the beautiful Kumamoto Castle, one of the three great castles in Japan. It is conveniently located near the JR Kumamoto Station where Shinkansen also stops.
