Mojiko Station guide

⑦ Mikado Shokudo
When Mojiko Station was first opened, there Mikado Shokudo was located on the 2nd floor. At the time, the Mikado Shokudo was a luxurious restaurant. It was operated by Mikado K.K., which was the first company in Japan to run eateries inside train stations and dining cars. A picture of the inside of the train station during 1912-1926 shows what the Mikado Shokudo looked like at the time. The cafeteria was adorned with brightly colored tablecloths, slimly designed chairs. There were chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and plants all around the interior. The picture shows just how elegant the atmosphere was. After the end of World War II, the Mikado Shokudo was moved to the first floor 1st and 2nd class passenger waiting room. The cafeteria continued to operate until 1981.
