⑤ 1st & 2nd class passenger waiting room
At the time the station was first constructed, the train cars were divided between 1st, 2nd and 3rd class cars. There waiting room exclusively for 1st and 2nd class passengers. The interior of the waiting room was grand, adorned with varnished Douglas fir fixtures and black plastered decorative walls. At the time, passengers in the waiting room could purchase tickets and receive telegrams. There was also a toilet (washroom) especially for 1st and 2nd class passengers.
Today, passengers use the JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or tourist information center. The travel information counter exudes an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of the former 1st and 2nd class passenger waiting room.
