④ Eaves
There are many eaves and roofs installed around Mojiko Station. Some cover the platform and others the trains. Each has its own specific purpose.
During the recent restoration, the eaves at the front of the station building were removed to replicate the way the station looked back in 1912 to 1928. The eaves at the front of the building were installed in 1929 due to the continued increase in the number of people using the station and being dropped off or picked up at the station by car. An old picture taken sometime during the years from 1912-1926 shows a rickshaw parked in front of the station. In contrast, from 1927 onward cars are parked in front of the station.
Today, the eaves used to cover cars that stopped in front of the station are no longer used. However, they offer insight into how the station was used at the time and knowledge of the architectural technology at the time. A portion of these eaves have been used along the west side corridor of the station while some have been put on display.
