Kyushu Travel Information

Fukuoka is the most populated prefecture in Kyushu (approximately 5.09 million, as of 2014). Its capital city, Fukuoka City, has commercial districts that draw visitors and shoppers from Japan and abroad. Most visitors travel to Fukuoka to enjoy the wide variety of tasty foods such as ramen with pork broth, udon noodles, motsunabe (hot pot stew made with offal), mizutaki (meat & vegetables cooked in a pot), fresh seafood, yakitori, mentaiko (red peppered walleye Pollack roe) and many other dishes. Although it is the largest and busiest city in Kyushu, there are coastal areas and mountains nearby where you can also spend some time.
