Name Scenic Sengan-en Garden Introduction The second home of Shimazu Nariakira, clan lord of the Satsuma Domain, who discovered the brilliance of legendary hero, Saigo Takamori. The garden, with its stunning views of the majestic Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay, has been designated as one of Japan’s best places of scenic beauty, and still retains many relics that give a sense of the site’s history, such as the Tsuru-Tourou, or Crane Lantern, and the Bogakuro Pavilion.
